The Slide/Glide. Tampere, Finland
The Slide/Glide is about meeting. About moving in the same direction for a moment, sharing the same rhythm, feeling how a sense of community can arise almost by itself. One dancer leads a movement that the body recognizes long before the mind catches up. Something simple, and at the same time quite powerful. The Slide/Glide is part of an ongoing artistic exploration of the choreography The Electric Slide — which Naidu has worked with since 2004.

Figuren is a choreographic work in which movement and text reinforce each other, set to a house music score and performed by ten female performing artists of varying ages. The work addresses questions of beauty norms, individuality, and the relationship to one’s own body. Rooted in a two-month process with girls aged 14–18, who read and discussed Naomi Wolf’s The Beauty Myth (1991).
